Indium iodide is new emerging X- and gamma-ray detector material. It have basic requirements such as high bandgap, high average atomic number, and high mobility-lifetime product. Commercially availbe InI material is just 4-5N purity. Notable improvement in gamma-response observed in InI detector grown with 50 times zone-refined InI source. The photo clearly indicates the effectiveness of zone-refining. (Pure zone is transparent red-color and impurities accumulated zone is dark color ).
