Bandgap of semiconductor materials are easily determined by refletance measurement. However, it gives slightly small value than actual bandgap shown in figure. Photoluminiscence (PL) measurement gives most accurate bandgap as far as I know. Bandgap = FX +13 meV.

Lead iodide ingot grown by floating zone method. It has good X- and gamma-ray detector properties but exhibits severe crystal orientation dependence due to its crystal structure. It is desirable for just low energy X- and gamma-ray detector.

First CdMnTe ingot grown by seedless THM. It is one inch diameter and 3 inch length. We made 6 x 6x 12 mm3 virtual Frisch-grid detector with CdMnTe. Pulse height measurement with CdMnTe detector 6.7 % and 2.1 % energy resolution with Co-57 and Cs-137.
